Creating Effective Relationships
Apr 27th, 2006 | By admin | Category: ActionI recently taught a class on project managers. If you want to learn more about the class click here. Some of these individuals were running Project Management Offices and setting standard for major corporations. Some were new project managers and some were brushing up on their soft skills.
I was surprised when several of them came up to me afterwards and suggested that this material should be taught at the high school level.
The course was not about project management. It was about creating effective relationship using The Platinum Rule. Many of us are not taught basic people skills. If we are fortunate we learn them at home. If not, we use trial and error to figure out what works.
I was so surprised that creating and establishing effective relationships was of so much interest to people I thought were already effective at creating and maintaining effective relationships.
The more I teach The Platinum Rule, both with my coaching clients, and in workshops and classes the more I realize how difficult it is to create and maintain these relationships.
